Interview Preparation
Make sure that you know the following:
- The title of the job for which you are interviewing
- The time and location of the interview.
- The names and titles of each interviewer.
- As much as possible about the company.
Interview Do’s
- Be positive and enthusiastic
- Listen and speak clearly
- Make your answers insightful without being too lengthy
- Sell yourself without exaggerating
- Act confident without being arrogant
- Make it clear that you want the job
- Shake hands firmly
- Dress professionally
- Maintain eye contact with the interviewer
- Turn off your cellphone
- Prepare a brief script outlining your education, career progression and career aspirations.
- Focus on your accomplishments, not duties and responsibilities.
Interview Don’ts
- Don't interrupt
- Don't let the interviewer do all of the talking.
- Don't monopolize the conversation.
- Don’t make negative comments about your current or former employers.
- Don't discuss compensation unless you have been instructed to do so by your recruiter.
